Frequently Asked Questions
What is raw shea butter?
Raw shea butter is the unrefined fat extracted from the nuts of the African shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa). Unlike refined versions, raw shea butter retains all its natural vitamins (A, E, F), fatty acids, and healing properties. It has a natural nutty scent and ivory-to-yellow color.
How do I use shea butter?
Apply it directly to skin or hair as a moisturizer. It works great for dry skin, eczema, stretch marks, hair conditioning, and as a lip balm. Scoop a small amount, warm it between your palms, and massage into the desired area. A little goes a long way.
What's the shelf life?
Properly stored (cool, dry place away from direct sunlight), raw shea butter lasts 18–24 months. Our whipped shea butter has a similar shelf life. You'll notice a change in scent or texture if it goes off — but most people use it well before then.
How long does shipping take?
All orders ship from our US warehouse. Standard delivery is 3–5 business days. Orders of 2+ items ship free. See our shipping page for details.
Is your shea butter organic?
Our 9 oz tin is USDA Organic certified. All our shea butter is sourced from wild-harvested shea trees in Guinea, West Africa — no pesticides, no chemicals, no additives. The trees grow naturally in the savanna and have never been treated with synthetic inputs.
Can I use it on my face and hair?
Absolutely. Shea butter is non-comedogenic for most people and is gentle enough for facial use. It's also excellent as a deep hair conditioner, hot oil treatment, or styling butter for natural hair. If you have very oily or acne-prone skin, do a patch test first.
